Adrian West Band is a six-piece acoustic rock ensemble from Oakland. A rising force in the Bay Area music scene, they play original acoustic rock (think "Paul Simon meets Talking Heads"), a couple rock covers (anything from Supertramp to Dolly Parton) and a coupe Jazz standards. A classically trained violinist who later turned to drums, guitar and singing, Adrian is a gifted composer and arranger. His lyrics, ranging from whimsical to philosophical, ride atop a steady wave of catchy music. The repertoire for this show will include original songs from the band's new album "Ice Cream On My Cereal" as well as these covers: Ants Marching by Dave Matthews Closer to Fine by Indigo Girls Strasbourg/St-Denis by Roy Hargrove Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione With its comfortable, tiered seating and excellent sound, The Vukasin Theater (capacity 133) at the Lesher Center For The Arts is a wonderful, intimate space in which to experience this up-and-coming band. All ages welcome. This concert will bring together some top Bay Area talent (musicians listed below). The rip-roaring solos of pianist Michael Echaniz are worth the price of admission alone.
