Since lockdowns prevented the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra from celebrating Beethoven's 250th birthday in late 2020, the orchestra is performing "Beethoven's Belated Birthday Bash."

This live experience begins with the Overture to Fidelio, the curtain-opener for the only opera he ever wrote. Fidelio went through 30 revisions before settling on a final version, and the overture required 4 separate attempts.

Leonard Bernstein called Fidelio "some of the most glorious music ever conceived by a mortal..." Enjoy Beethoven's Symphony No. 8, a lighthearted and mischievous composition sprinkled with subtle musical pranks. The unconventional form and comical tone set it apart.

Finally, hear the exuberant Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major featuring Oakland-based piano soloist, Amy Zanrosso. A reviewer later described the concerto as "the most admirable, singular, artistic, and complex Beethoven concerto ever."

The CCCO believes that everyone should experience the inspiration and energy of a live orchestral performance. This program is easy to appreciate, even for those with little or no classical music experience.

Affordable tickets, Adult $20 Senior $15 Student $7 or at the door.

Presented by Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra.
